Lianne Brancky (Eller Marketing ’13) is getting ready to graduate, and when she does, she’ll soon move to Baltimore, Maryland, where she’ll start her dream job — with PepsiCo. Her goal all along was to enter sales and become a successful salesperson for a large company like PepsiCo.
Brancky came to the University of Arizona with high expectations for herself and for the Eller College. She became involved in both Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and Alpha Kappa Psi professional business fraternity. She has held many leadership roles in these organizations. “Alpha Kappa Psi has helped me tremendously by improving my professional development skills, which I will take with me into the real world after college,” she said.
Looking back over her time at Eller, Brancky said marketing and media arts lecturer Ed Ackerley and his MKTG 425: Advertising Management class have been the most influential. “His style of teaching and the way he can get people to come and enjoy an 8 a.m. class twice a week are amazing,” she said. “He not only taught me a lot about advertising, but he also touched on things that are more important than what you can learn in school. He was a phenomenal professor.”
Not only did Brancky work hard to reach her goal of getting a great job after college, she also held two different internships during her time at Eller. Her first was with Blue Sky, a small stationary products company in California. She was able to gain hands-on experience auditing products in key account stores and running focus groups. The other internship was with Lori Carroll & Associates, a local interior design company in Tucson that charged her with managing their social media sites.
