MIS Department Head Named

The Eller College of Business and Public Administration at The University of Arizona is proud to announce the appointment of Mohan R. Tanniru, Ph.D. as head of the Department of Management Information Systems (MIS). Tanniru was selected to head the top-ranked department following an extensive national search. He will assume his post in December.
"We are very pleased to welcome Dr. Tanniru to the Eller College," said Dean Mark Zupan. "He comes highly recommended and is well-respected in the field for his research, his integrity, and his ability to build solid, productive relationships with the business community. He is known as a bright, dynamic, action-oriented leader with an ability to generate resources from a variety of sources. We look forward to having him put these skills to work on behalf of our MIS department and the Eller College."
Tanniru comes to Arizona from the School of Business Administration at Oakland University, Rochester, Michigan where he is professor of management information systems, director of the Applied Technology in Business Program, and co-director of the Center of Entrepreneurship in Information Technology.
He also has been on the MIS faculties at Syracuse University and the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
He earned his Ph.D. in management information systems from Northwestern University. He also holds an MBA in production and operations management, an MS in electrical engineering, and an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering.
Professor Tanniru is widely published in academic journals such as the Communications of the Association of Computing Machinery, the Journal of Management Information Systems, Information Systems Research, MIS Quarterly, Decision Sciences, Decision Support Systems, the Annals of Operations Research, Information and Management, the Journal of Organizational Change Management, Expert Systems w/Applications, and the International Journal of Technology Management.
He has contributed chapters to a number of books and is regularly an invited participant at conferences and academic meetings. He is a member of the editorial board for the Journal of Managerial Issues and a reviewer for numerous academic journals.

I am also excited about making industries in Arizona, and beyond, partners in this endeavor," said Tanniru.
