MIS Department Answers Demand for Professionals with Information Security Expertise
New online Enterprise Security Certification program for working professionals begins May 17.
TUCSON, Ariz. – April 27, 2010 – Nearly three-quarters of organizations believe they have adequate policies in place to protect personal information, yet more than half have lost sensitive data within the past two years — and nearly 60 percent of those organizations acknowledge data loss as a recurring problem, according to a global study released by Accenture today.
There is growing demand for IT professionals with expertise in information systems security, and in response to that demand, the top-ranked Department of Management Information Systems (MIS) at the University of Arizona’s Eller College of Management has launched a new online certification program aimed at working professionals who want to stay at the top of the IT security game.
In less than a year, professionals can earn an Enterprise Security Certificate from the Department of MIS, which holds a designation as a Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Education by the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security.
Through the MISonline program, students will gain the critical knowledge that is needed to secure information and information systems in the areas confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Each course is ten weeks in length and students earn Committee on National Security Systems certificates for successful course completions. The first two courses, Information Security in the Public and Private Sectors and Privacy, Information Security, and Risk Analysis, begin on May 17, 2010.
Application information, course calendar, and more information is available online at www.misonline.eller.arizona.edu.
