Students in Delta Sigma Pi — the professional business fraternity — have partnered with Marana High School to create a business mentoring program.

The Delta Sig students wanted to develop a community service project of their own, and the idea to help in the professional development of high school students got traction. Explained president Catherine Leslie (BSBA MIS and Entrepreneurship ’13), “Our chapter has really enjoyed working with Junior Achievement in the past, so we knew we wanted to do something that incorporated teaching students in a classroom setting. After discussing it with Marana High School, we knew it would be a great match.”

Every other Friday, Delta Sig members go to Marana High School and work with students taking the advanced business marketing class. Each workshop has a specific theme, such as the college search/application process, entrepreneurial ventures, interviews, resume and cover letter development, and mock interviews.
