For Grade K-5 Educators, Open to All

Showcasing award-winning children’s books, interdisciplinary lessons, and connections to current events, this session features sports figures that will inspire students to learn about the circumstances that contributed to their accomplishments. Jackie Robinson’s entrance into Major League Baseball, Wilma Rudolph’s three Gold Medals at the 1960 Olympics, and Jim Thorpe’s struggles and successes all serve as examples of overcoming adversity, making choices, and facing opportunity cost. Current K-5 classroom teachers will receive two featured books of their choice.
