Business Careers Awareness Program
You can call it BCAP for short—and it’s here to help high school juniors from communities underrepresented in college business classes. If students have an interest in accounting or in business, we’ll help them prep for college and the meaningful career that can follow, thanks to EY.

I love helping students grow at different stages of their experience with accounting. Teaching provides me the chance to see accounting through the eyes of many extremely gifted and hardworking people each year. In turn, this enables me to learn more about a subject I care deeply about.
Max Hewitt, Associate Professor of Accounting
Our Accounting Academic Programs

Eller's accounting undergraduate program is ranked 20th among public undergraduate accounting programs. Here, you’ll learn the art of collecting, organizing, analyzing and presenting financial information so companies and organizations can make the best possible decisions.

Eller accounting graduates pass the CPA exam on their first attempt at an impressive 70 percent rate compared to the 49 percent national average. Our supportive faculty put your success first with a curriculum that familiarizes you with exam topics—and sets you up for a dynamic career in an ever-evolving industry.

Experience our collaborative approach of partnering doctoral students with faculty to co-author research papers. It’s just one reason our PhD program ranks so well nationally—#1 in tax accounting, #2 for auditing and #8 for financial accounting. As numbers people, we know that’s hard to top.

A leader in his field and a friend to everyone in his circle: Honoring Professor Dan Dhaliwal
Eller College was saddened to lose its head of the Department of Accounting, Professor Dan Dhaliwal, in 2016. But his influence lives on among everyone whose lives he touched through shared scholarship, research, mentorship, collaboration and stories shared. Learn more about Professor Dhaliwal's impact.
Meet Accounting Students, Alumni and Faculty

Thomas O’Kane ’20 BSBA (Accounting and MIS) is acutely interested in the intersection between business finances and information technology integration, which led him to pursue his two majors at Eller. He also made a decision to immerse himself in the Eller community as a leader because, he says: “I want to take each and every day as a chance to learn something new and support others in their own goals.”

Because I am a non-tenure track employee, I focus on service, rather than research. What I love most is helping students embrace and develop their strengths while finding a career field that excites them.

I love having the opportunity to help students grow at different stages of their experience with accounting. Teaching allows me to think more deeply about the challenges that people face when processing financial information, as well as think carefully about the purpose of accounting, especially in the broader business environment.
