Center of Academic Excellence

In recognition of the Information Assurance and Security Education Center's emphasis on academic research in technology and computer science, the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland Security designated the University of Arizona as a Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense.

Outreach is an important part of IASEC’s mission, bringing awareness, education and training on cybersecurity to students at the K-12 and collegiate levels.

In an effort to provide a variety of outreach opportunities, our programming changes from year to year. Most recently, IASEC established a guest lecture program with Salpointe High School in Tucson and brought GenCyber—a nationwide grant program that sponsors cybersecurity and mobile app development camps for high school students—to the University of Arizona.
