The Center for Trust Studies (CTS) in the Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona will host a Distinguished Speaker Seminar on March 12 at 8:00 a.m. Arizona Time.

The session will feature a presentation by Vincent Buskens, Professor of Sociology at Utrecht University. The title of the presentation is “On the Interdependent Effects of Social Environment and Empathy on Trust.” Registration is required (registration link below).

“It is clear that trust is a function of both the social surroundings and an physiological processes,” says Oliver Schilke, professor of management and organizations in the Eller College and CTS director. “Yet, little research has studied both antecedents at the same time, and even fewer studies set out to examine their interdependence. Vincent's work in this area is both enlightening and thought-provoking, and it undoubtedly contributes to our understanding of the dynamics that underlie trust in our society.”

Supported by the National Science Foundation, CTS hosts a series of workshops on trust, develops teaching tools on trust, and gets students from a variety of diverse backgrounds actively engaged in trust research.
