The Center for Trust Studies (CTS) in the Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona will host a Distinguished Speaker Seminar on February 4 at 9 a.m. MST.

The session will feature a presentation by Ronald S. Burt, Charles M. Harper Leadership Professor of Sociology and Strategy, University of Chicago and Distinguished Professor, Bocconi University. The title of the presentation is “Trust Beyond the Network.” Registration is required (registration link below).

“Networks are known to be a key source of trust in economic and social exchange,” says Oliver Schilke, associate professor of management and organizations at Eller College and CTS director. “But does the perceived safety of interacting with close friends prevent people from reaching out to strangers and benefiting from exposure to social diversity?”

Supported by the National Science Foundation, CTS hosts a series of workshops on trust, develops teaching tools on trust, and gets students from a variety of diverse backgrounds actively engaged in trust research.
