About the Graduate and Professional Student Council

Each year, the Eller College of Management graduate student body elects two peers* to represent them on the Graduate and Professional Student Council (GPSC). The GPSC is a student government organization that brings together graduate students from across the University to

  • promote the academic, economic, and social aims of the graduate and professional students of the University of Arizona.
  • establish effective communication among graduate students and professional students.
  •  facilitate communication within the University and with other organizations.

Meetings

The GPSC holds biweekly meetings during the academic year and monthly meetings during the summer. All meetings are open to the public; anyone who is interested may attend. Please see the GPSC Calendar for a schedule of upcoming meetings.

Saiying (Tina) Ge

Tina Ge is a 3rd year Ph.D. student from the Management Information Systems department, who is originally from China. Her advisor is Dr. Jay Nunamaker, and her research interests center with deception detection and human-computer interaction.

Zara Ahmad-Post

Zara Ahmad-Post is a 2nd year Master's student from the Management Information Systems department. She is a fellow in the AZSecure Program in the Scholarship for Industry track. Her research focuses on computational propaganda and state-sponsored online social media fraud. Prior to coming to UArizona, she received her undergraduate degree from Indiana University and worked as technologist in the arts sector in New York City. She is a Tucson native.

GPSC Election Season is here- submit your petition by March 28th!

If you are interested in getting involved in GPSC for the 21-22 school year, fill out and submit your petition by March 28th. More information about the petition process can be found at https://gpsc.arizona.edu/elections


February 18, 2021

Please note that weekly COVID testing is mandatory in order to access campus secure WIFI services. All students who complete weekly testing are eligible to enter a raffle to win a $500 tuition rebate. Learn more here: https://covid19.arizona.edu/covid19-testing

The GPSC is pleased to announce that as a result of our advocacy efforts, a new need-based graduate student scholarship is available. This scholarship is for $3000 and the funding comes from graduate student fees that have not been otherwise used on University services. To apply, visit scholarship universe and search AFAT.

October 8, 2020

Representatives from the United Campus Workers of Arizona attended the GPSC meeting to discuss how the two organizations can work together and improve the advocacy impact of each group. UCW is a newly formed union of faculty, staff, and students at the University of Arizona. You can find out more about this group by visiting their website: https://ucwaz.org/

Travel Grants

The GPSC awards grants for graduate and professional student travel for professional development purposes. Applications for domestic travel may receive up to $750. Applications for international travel may receive up to $1000. Event types covered by the grant include but are not limited to:

  • Travel to attend/present at academic or professional conferences

  • Travel to conduct fieldwork or research

  • Travel to participate in summer schools or workshops

  • Travel to participate in practicums, internships, or other types of experiential learning

  • Travel for a job interview or campus visit

  • Travel for study abroad or international study
