Professional Sales Club Preps for Fall Competition
Members of the Eller Professional Sales Club are gearing up for an October 14 sales competition sponsored by Cox Business Systems.
During the competition, 50 sales recruiters and executives from ten national companies will play the roles of judges and mock buyers. They will select the top five contestants who will go on to compete in StartUp Tucson’s 10 West Competition on Thursday, October 27. The top three competitors will win cash prizes of $1,500, $1,000, and $500.
The judges will then select 25 contestants to compete on Friday, December 2, in the Eller Invitational Sales Competition, which will include cash prices and offers for sales internships and full-time jobs. There will also be a Visume contest where contestants create 60-second annotated videos of their elevator pitches.
Forty seniors and ten juniors will take part in the competition and there are still spaces available to train and compete, especially for MIS majors. Why MIS? Because most recruiters come from IT companies where they are looking for entry-level technical sales representatives. Students can take this opportunity to learn and develop outstanding sales and professional development skills in a real-life scenario.
Training begins on Wednesday, September 7, but students can sign up for MKTG 293, section three, to receive two academic units for the training.
