Jake Shepp is from Scottsdale, Arizona, and is currently a junior with a double major in economics and management information systems. Check out his responses to our six questions below:

What made you choose your major?

ECON 200 Basic Economic Issues with Dirk Mateer sparked my interest in making it my major, and the Zipperman Scholars Program made me interested in MIS. I couldn't decide, so I picked both!

What type of relevant professional experience have you had or currently have?

I interned with General Dynamics in summer of 2016, and this summer I have accepted a position with Bloomberg L.P in San Francisco.

How have you been involved on campus so far?

Eller ELITE, Kappa Sigma Fraternity, Eller College Student Council, and I have a part-time job in the new Professional Development Center.

What campus positions have you held?

I have held positions with my fraternity as well as the Eller College Student Council. For Kappa Sigma, I managed Risk Management, and for ECSC I was appointed the VP of Career Showcase.

What has your involvement taught you?

Getting involved has been the single most beneficial thing I have done in college so far. Not only have I made a ton of friends, including people I never would have met otherwise, but I also have been presented with professional opportunities that can help better my resume, such as Career Showcase or even volunteering for Eller Make A Difference Day.

What is your plan for the rest of college?

For the rest of college I plan to take as much in as I can from my last few semesters, and do my best to leave a mark on the Eller Community. I definitely want to make the most out of my time here before I enter the "real world" everyone keeps talking about, and hopefully even leave Eller a little better than when I found it.
