The Bay Area has long been known as the epicenter of innovation and start-up culture in the United States—it is the place where new things are born.

The Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona has taken note.

In response to an increasing demand on aspiring and established entrepreneurs for business acumen to successfully steward their ventures, Eller’s McGuire Center for Entrepreneurship—consistently ranked in the top 10 for entrepreneurship programs by U.S. News & World Report—is now providing courses and training at Impact Hub San Francisco.

“Our new partnership with Impact Hub will create more expertly trained entrepreneurs in the Bay Area through the McGuire Center’s specially tailored graduate-level courses,” says Paulo Goes, Eller College dean and Halle Chair in Leadership. “The courses will be focused around social innovation to speak directly to Impact Hub’s mission-driven co-working members and community to support them as change makers with global impact.”

To celebrate this pioneering partnership, in March 2018 the Eller College and Impact Hub held a moderated panel of speakers to discuss disruptive innovation. Panelists included:

  • Tim Freundlich, CEO and Founder, Impact Hub
  • Paulo Goes, Dean, Eller College of Management
  • Sara Olsen, Founder and CEO, SVT Group
  • Matt Van Horn ’06 BSBA (Marketing and Entrepreneurship), Co-Founder, Lyft; Co-founder and CEO, June
  • Michelle Vock ’13 BSBA (Marketing and MIS), Team Manager, Andela

“We are pleased to introduce our McGuire curriculum, which offers extremely relevant learning for innovators and entrepreneurs,” says Remy Arteaga, executive director of the McGuire Center and panelist moderator. “There is an ever-expanding need for entrepreneurs—even in an environment like the Bay Area—to fully understand the business side of innovation and entrepreneurship, no matter where they are in the start-up cycle.”

Part of a growing network across the world, Impact Hub San Francisco is a community of entrepreneurs, activists, creatives and professionals taking action to drive positive social, economic and environmental change.

“Our vibrant community of hundreds of impact innovators is thrilled to provide a home and supportive ecosystem to surround this ground breaking educational program, says Tim Nichols, managing director of Impact Hub San Francisco. “The McGuire Center’s curriculum will feed into and off of our rich landscape in a unique, high-value way.”
