Four Eller College finance students—Kerrick Henderson, Ellen Savarese, Sophia Wong and  Jacob Martin—reigned victorious at the regional CFA Institute Research Challenge on February 21, 2019. Under the guidance of their coach, Matt Haertzen, lecturer in finance, the team beat out Arizona State University, University of Nevada Las Vegas and Grand Canyon University.

The annual CFA Institute Research Challenge is a global competition that provides university students with an immersive financial analysis experience. In teams, students research and analyze a publicly traded company and then prepare and present a research report with a buy, sell or hold recommendation.

“I’m incredibly proud of the team and grateful to the CFA Institute facilitating this impactful opportunity for our students,” says Haertzen. “The CFA Institute will be a valuable resource for our students as they develop their careers in finance.”

The team will advance on to the Americas Regional competition on April 23-24, 2019 in New York City. The Global Final of the CFA Institute Research Challenge will take place on April 25, 2019 in New York City.
