A new club at the Eller College of Management is making substantial headway as it continues to expand in members as well as student-led initiatives. The Women in Economics Club (WEC) was founded by Erin Yetter, lecturer in economics at Eller, in Fall 2018 with a mission to promote diversity and inclusion in the field of economics and encourage Eller students to be involved in the community.

Yetter explains that the WEC is “geared towards creating a space for women in economics to come together. Statistically speaking, women are not overtly represented in the economics industry, especially in administration positions. We want this to be a place where female students as well as supportive male students can encourage each other in all endeavors, be it academic or personal.”

Meetings take many different forms, from professional development workshops to community service projects and fun social outings. Members of this organization are preparing to become leaders in the industry by taking advantage of the many opportunities that this club provides.

If you would like more information or are interested in joining, email women.in.economics.az@gmail.com. Follow the WEC on Instagram (@ua_wec) for club updates and meeting details.
