Anjelina Belakovskaia, senior lecturer in finance in the Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona, was featured in an election day—November 3—Arizona Republic article where she gives her bold prediction into how the stock market will be affected by the results of the 2020 Presidential Election.

Belakovskaia predicts that a Biden win could cause the stock market to fall at least 5 percent within days and possibly a 20 to 35 percent decrease by the end of the year, taking the Dow Jones Industrial Average down to around 18,000 to 22,000.

“There could be a really strong financial impact,” says Belakovskaia. “The economy of the future is at stake.”

Contrarily, Belakovskaia predicts that if Trump wins a second election, the market could push even higher “easily breaking the psychologically significant 30,000 barrier.”

Belakovskaia has been teaching finance at the Eller College of Management since 2011. With a master’s in mathematics in finance from New York University, Belakovskaia’s areas of expertise include market psychology, risk management, structured finance products and weather, exotic and credit derivatives.
