Eller College Dean, Karthik Kannan, Honored with ISS Distinguished Fellow Award
Karthik Kannan, dean and Halle Chair in Leadership of the Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona, has been named a Distinguished Fellow by the Information Systems Society (ISS)—one of the highest honors in the information systems field.
The ISS Distinguished Fellow Award recognizes scholars who have made outstanding intellectual contributions to the information systems discipline. Recipients are selected based on their significant impact through research publications, leadership in editorial positions and mentorship of emerging scholars.
"I am honored to receive this recognition from the Information Systems Society," says Kannan. "Throughout my career, I've been passionate about advancing our understanding of information systems and supporting the next generation of scholars. This award reflects not just an individual achievement but the collaborative spirit of our field and the countless colleagues and students who have been part of this journey."
The award acknowledges contributions across multiple dimensions of academic excellence, including:
- Influential publications that have advanced theory, research and practice
- Leadership roles in editorial positions, particularly with INFORMS journals
- Dedication to mentoring doctoral students and young researchers
The Information Systems Society, a prominent organization within INFORMS, plays a crucial role in supporting the academic community through various conferences, workshops and scholarly initiatives. These include the Conference on Information Systems and Technology (CIST), the Theory in Economics of IS (TEIS) workshop, and the Statistical Challenges in E-Commerce Research (SCECR) conference.
As a Distinguished Fellow, Kannan joins a select group of thought leaders who have shaped the evolution of information systems research and education. His recognition adds to the growing list of accolades for the Eller College of Management, which continues to strengthen its position as a leading institution for technology-focused business education and research.
