The 2024 Microsoft Excel Collegiate Challenge Finals took place on December 4 in Las Vegas, bringing together over 100 students from more than 13 countries to demonstrate their Excel skills. Students competed as individuals and in teams representing their schools, and for the first time, students competed alongside professionals in the Microsoft Excel World Championship.

Participants tackled a series of complex Excel-based cases designed to test their problem-solving abilities, speed, and precision. Eller College of Management students Jack Weber and Spencer Angell performed exceptionally, securing sixth and tenth place, respectively, in the individual rankings.

In the team competition, Eller representatives—Ben Ge, Desirae Hoaglin, and Jack Weber—earned second place. They missed the top spot by only 20 points, somewhat attributable to a technical error, highlighting their strong performance despite the setback.

Organizers have announced a rematch among the four finalist schools, scheduled for the spring. This will provide another opportunity for Eller’s team to compete and further showcase their skills.
