Cassie Antonson BSBA ‘25 (Marketing) was a Global Intern at Lis Cara Business Centre in Dublin, Ireland.

If you worked on a big project during your internship, please describe what you did to help.

The company I work for is best described as a serviced office. We provide reception and services to 30+ companies, so the tasks are often varied and not more than a day or two long. Some tasks I have assisted with are distributing paintings for a fine art auctioneer, packing gift bags for a member of the European Parliament, and updating finance sheets for a private community garden. For the Lis Cara Business Centre specifically, I organize and file lots of documents relating to the daily operations of the company.

What did you find most challenging about your internship?

One of the more challenging aspects of my internship was adapting and learning what is normal for a workplace in Ireland. It can be hard to feel like you do not understand what is happening at work in social and professional settings. Specifically, the vocabulary used was very different from what I was used to so the first few weeks were spent learning that. Once I made it over that learning curve, I felt much more comfortable around the office.

What advice do you have for other students who are also considering interning abroad?

I would 100% recommend interning abroad. While it may seem daunting at first, there are so many people available to guide and support you through it. The biggest thing that has helped me is having an open mind and not being afraid to ask for help. It is a very different experience, but having an open mind and being able to adapt to the culture of your workplace can teach you so many new skills.

How did Eller (or your previous coursework) prepare you for your internship?

Eller has prepared me for this internship in many ways. To start, I felt very comfortable at the initial interview for my internship because of Eller. Along with that, Eller has improved my time management, organization, group work, and presentation skills, and I have been able to use these skills to stay successful throughout my entire internship. Also, basic interpersonal skills I learned through Eller took me a long way and set me apart from my coworkers.
