Gabriella Currie '27 BSBA (Pre-Business) interned at Europass Teacher Academy in Dublin, Ireland.

If you worked on a big project during your internship, please describe what you
did to help.

One big project I worked on during my internship was technology and merchandise
inventory. When I was assigned this task, the spreadsheets I was given had very little,
messy and unorganized information. To improve this, I went around the business and
made sure to update the spreadsheet with location of the technologies and improved
overall organization. Since merchandise inventory from the past was also incomplete,
when we received new inventory I made sure the spreadsheet was clear and organized
for whoever needs to use that information in the future.

What did you find most challenging about your internship?

At first, it was hard to take initiative and ask for things to do. For example, the other
intern at my job does the same basic tasks all day. However, I asked for several tasks
at the start of my internship so throughout the rest of the summer I had multiple things
to do throughout my workdays. Now ending the second half of my internship, I am
confident that I am not bored throughout my workdays and I am contributing a lot to my
organization by doing multiple tasks, some that I even take upon myself to complete.

What advice do you have for other students that are also considering interning
abroad?

For other students considering interning abroad, I totally recommend it. I came to
Dublin, Ireland knowing nobody and I have made lifetime friends and connections. It
might seem scary, but you will learn so much about the country you work in and the
workplace itself. If you have the opportunity to intern abroad, I would take it!

How did Eller (or your previous coursework) prepare you for your internship?

Previous coursework did not really prepare me for this internship. I think a lot of my
professional skills were learned in high school DECA. Interpersonal skills are one of the
most important things needed for my internship and I gained these skills through sports,
volunteering and other extracurriculars. However, I do think the pre-departure meetings in Eller were helpful to learn about my host country and set some expectations for my internship.
