Janet Warren '25 BSBA (Finance) was an Apprise Intern at Walker & Dunlop in Dallas, Texas.

What was the process for getting this internship, job, or summer experience?

There were two rounds of interviews: the first one was simple HR questions over the phone, and the second one was a Superday Zoom interview with various leaders within the company in different departments. After the Superday, it was about a two month wait before receiving the internship offer.

What did you learn?

I had the opportunity to learn the process of a multi-family property appraisal from start to finish, contribute to the front-end and back-end of reports, join in on property inspections, and network with individuals across the Commercial Real Estate industry.

How did Eller prepare you for this experience?

I was enrolled in BCOM 314 at the time, and it really prepared me for interviewing, email etiquette, and understanding my professional persona as I went into each interview round confident. It also set me up for success in working with a diverse team.

Did you feel supported by the company or organization you worked with? Please share what they did to help you feel included.

My company planned various networking and team bonding events that helped immerse me into the company culture, get to know everyone inside and outside of my department, and make important professional connections. One of the biggest things that helped me was my team making the effort to be in-person at the office during my entire time at the company. As the company is flexible with remote work, some interns struggled with learning the ropes as their team didn’t make as much of an effort to be there in-person to teach them.
