Internship Spotlight: Jasper Fields, Raytheon Technologies
Jasper Fields '26 BSBA (Finance & Management Information Systems) was an Estimating and Pricing Analyst at Raytheon Technologies in Tucson, Arizona.
What was the process for getting this internship, job, or summer experience?
I applied online and had a 45 minute interview at the RTX career fair during September/October of the year prior to my internship.
What was a typical day like?
I would login (I was remote) and answer/catch up with emails. Then I would do whatever proposal I was assigned that day. Some days I had a lot of meetings with my team, others not so much. I did a lot of contract reviews and used pricing applications to form numbers of what it would cost for labor, material, and other inputs for our missiles. I would add this to our final package and then send it to our customers (the government). Overall, my day to day tasks were creating little details that would make a proposal for our customers.
If you worked on a big project, please describe it:
We had a big group project that had to be finished in 6 weeks. My team and I created a proposal simulator that was to help new hires in the proposal process. Basically starting from getting a request from the government all the way to negotiating prices and finally shaking hands with the customer and landing a booking. It was a very visual presentation and took a lot of attention to detail.
How did Eller prepare you for this experience?
I'd say my BNAD 276/277 classes were the classes that most aligned with what I did this summer. It was a lot of inputting numbers and following a set of guidelines. I remember doing the cases for that class were very succinct and had clear rules that we had to follow which is exactly what I did this summer.
