Lauren Ryan '25 BSBA (Economics) was an Associate Administrative Assistant at Wells Fargo in El Segundo, California.

What was a typical day like?

A typical day of my internship looked very different each day, but was consistent in the amount
of work I was doing. Upon arriving in the morning, I would check our calendar for the meeting
that day, my email, and my Microsoft teams. Once addressing all messages that I missed from
the day before it would be around the time for a team meeting. In these meetings I would report
my progress on the two projects I was working on and the advisors would give me small daily
assignments that often consisted of work they are not able to fill into their schedule. I would
spend a few hours before lunch working on these smaller projects before turning back onto my
bigger projects after lunch. I would also join in on client meetings to shadow and take notes.

What was your favorite part of the experience?

My favorite part of the internship was learning something new everyday. In the industry of wealth
management, it is very unlikely you will be doing the same things every day. It was a fun
challenge to learn how to adapt to different things that were happening in the markets and with
the clients.

What advice do you have for future students with a similar interest?

Reach out early to secure the internship! After applying and interviewing, the onboarding
process also takes a lot of time. The earlier you reach out, the better of a chance you will have
to secure the internship.

Did you feel supported by the company or organization you worked with?

The advisors were very excited to help me in any way they could. One advisor set time with me
every Friday to go over any questions I had from that week as well as general questions about his experience in the industry. They also included me in all team meetings allowing me to have the opportunity to gain clarity and have a deeper look into their daily and weekly tasks.
