Ryan Sadowsky '25 BSBA (Management Information Systems) was an Asset Management Summer Analyst in Trade Management at Goldman Sachs in Dallas, Texas.

What was the process for getting this internship, job, or summer experience?

I became interested in the firm after meeting recruiters and employees at Eller Expo. I talked to them at their booth and then had a coffee chat with an employee. Once I decided it was where I wanted to be, I reached out to as many alumni that were current employees as I could find to schedule coffee chats. After applying, I received an invite to participate in a HireVue interview where I filmed video questions. About a week or so after I got invited to a Superday. On this Superday I was interviewed by different people at the firm via Zoom. This was the most rewarding part of the process and all of my interviewers were super insightful and kind. A few days after this super day, the recruiter called with my offer.

What was your favorite part of the experience?

My favorite part of this experience was getting to know the people on my team and receiving continuous mentorship from them. They made me feel right at home and catered projects to my skills and interests. Additionally, I never felt isolated as an intern. They instantly let me participate in daily tasks and work on team deliverables.

What advice do you have for future students with a similar interest?

If you are interested in pursuing an internship, building a network and strong experiences will be my best advice. Reach out to alumni, maintain those relationships, and take any opportunity to network with people from the firm you are interested in. Additionally, develop yourself into a well rounded candidate. Pursue your interests and find what makes you unique. Any skills you learn from those interests will be transferable to your internship no matter if you think they will or not.

How did Eller prepare you for this experience?

Most of the skills that I carried into my internship didn't come from the classroom, but rather my Eller Experience as a whole. Soft skills such as presenting, your quickness to learn, and your ability to give and receive feedback were crucial to my success as an intern. More often than not, what you are working on at your internship doesn't parallel what you learn in class, that is why taking advantage of Eller's career coaching, clubs, and case competitions is the best way to prepare for an internship experience.

Did you feel supported by the company or organization you worked with?

The company supported interns wholeheartedly by providing us mentors and buddies to guide us through the internship, hosting networking events with people at all levels within the firm, and giving us the opportunity to join Affinity Networks to further develop relationships with groups of employees you identify with or want to learn more about. However, where I felt most supported was by my team, they took time out of their day to get to know me and train me. They always made me feel like an equal and gave me the opportunity to share my ideas on how to improve processes.
