Vanessa Koop '25 BSBA (Marketing) was a remote Marketing Intern at Attivo ERP.

What was the process for getting this internship, job, or summer experience?

I ran into the CEO of Attivo ERP, Len Reo, at my sister's graduation party last December. He told me all about his company and that they offered Marketing internships! I was really excited by this prospect and emailed him my resume. He put me in touch with the VP of Marketing, Marla Malkin, and I went through the interview process. Len and Marla scouted out potential intern talent at various colleges in Georgia and ended up selecting me to be a marketing intern for the summer!

What was a typical day like?

I worked 20 hours a week this summer, Monday through Friday from 9am to 1pm. Every day was different; I worked on different projects like fact sheets and prospect lists, which changed each week. I had to be flexible and adaptable throughout my entire internship experience.

What was your favorite part of the experience?

As an intern, it can be rare to work on so many different projects on high end marketing platforms. I had the opportunity to do this and more during my internship experience!

If you worked on a big project, please describe it below:

I got to create a fact sheet that was on our Attivo ERP table at a trade show! I had to research the product we were selling, met with various officials in the company to see what information needed to be included, and created an end product that the Marketing team was proud of.

What did you find most challenging?

The fast paced environment at Attivo ERP was one of the biggest challenges I faced. I had to constantly take notes and learn how to use different marketing platforms and balance working on multiple projects at once.

What did you learn?

I learned so much about what it is really like working on a marketing team and I absolutely loved it! I liked interacting with the other marketing intern and the managers. I really enjoyed having the opportunity to work at a smaller company.

What advice do you have for other students looking for a similar experience, or advice for future students to be successful?

No matter what industry you think you may be interested in, don't be afraid to branch out and try something new! I never thought I would be a marketing intern for a ERP software reseller and consulting firm and I had the best experience. Also, use your networking skills to your advantage! You never know what conversations will bring on future internship or job opportunities.

How did Eller prepare you for this experience?

Eller is a fast paced environment with an incredible support team. My experiences in case competitions, courses, and clubs like Eller ELITE really prepared me for the speaking confidently in large group meetings. I also met with a career coach who helped tremendously to prepare me for my interview and securing my position.

Did you feel supported by the company or organization you worked with?

I felt extremely supported by the Marketing team at Attivo ERP! My manager Emily Perez guided me through each learning opportunity and potential project. I would not have grown as much professionally if it wasn't for her leadership and assistance this summer.
