Nandani Dwivedi '29 (Business Management) was a Social Media and Marketing Intern at No Belt Required in Tucson, AZ.

Since this internship with NBR was hybrid and based in Tucson, I did not have any housing arrangements connected to the company. They did not provide housing, roommates, or transportation support. However, I did have to travel around Tucson frequently for internship-related work. As this was an unpaid internship, those transportation costs were not covered, which was a bit of an additional challenge.

What was the process for getting this internship, job, or summer experience?

I applied for the internship through Handshake. Shortly after, I was contacted to schedule an interview. Following the interview, I received an offer via email, which I accepted.

What was a typical day like?

A typical day during my internship was flexible, as I worked 10–15 hours a week on a schedule I could set myself. I usually attended 2–3 martial arts classes per week to capture content, including B-roll footage, photos, student testimonials, and coach headshots. Over May and June, I was able to meet and work with all of the coaches, which helped me build strong communication skills and confidence in directing content. After gathering material, I focused on editing and uploading content, as well as creating digital projects such as flyers and marketing campaigns for the organization’s Instagram. This experience strengthened my skills in content creation, digital marketing, and storytelling, while also giving me real-world experience in managing brand presence.

What did you find most challenging?

The biggest challenge I faced was time management. Since the internship was very self-directed and had a “be your own boss” structure, it was sometimes tempting to push tasks back. However, I always made sure to complete all of my work on time. This experience ultimately helped me strengthen my time management skills and taught me the importance of setting a consistent routine and holding myself accountable.

How did Eller prepare you for this experience?

Through Eller, I developed the confidence and skills to take on professional challenges. The emphasis on leadership and adaptability helped me succeed in a self-directed internship.
