If you worked on a big project during your internship, please describe what you did to help. 

Yes, one of the larger projects I worked on was managing and analyzing the July accommodation survey for course participants. I created a branching Microsoft Form that gathered data on booking preferences, travel groups, nightly costs, and commuting times. I then cleaned the results in Excel, identified key trends, and compiled feedback for future improvements to the housing process. This data helped the academy enhance its booking support and better tailor services to the needs of international educators. 

What did you find most challenging about your internship? 

The most challenging aspect was adjusting to the fast-paced, self-directed work environment. While I was given clear goals, I had to manage my time independently and prioritize tasks across multiple departments, such as communications, data analysis, and marketing. At first, it was difficult to balance expectations and stay proactive without constant supervision. Over time, I built confidence by asking questions and setting weekly check-ins with my supervisors. 

What advice do you have for other students that are also considering interning abroad? 

Take every opportunity to immerse yourself in the culture and step outside your comfort zone. Be flexible, proactive, and open to feedback. Traveling solo teaches you independence, but working abroad teaches you adaptability and global communication skills that will stay with you for life. Also, document your learning along the way; it will help you reflect and share your experience meaningfully when you return. 

How did Eller (or your previous coursework) prepare you for your internship? 

My coursework in business communication (BCOM 214) and management gave me the foundation to write professional emails, deliver presentations, and collaborate effectively across cultures.
