Eller Undergraduate Program Moves Up in U.S. News Rankings

Since 2019, the Eller College of Management has ramped up its efforts to prepare students for the fourth industrial revolution through the launch of its Technology Innovation Team, which offers the Level-Up Workshop Series that builds technical business skills in Excel, Tableau, Adobe Creative Cloud, virtual and augmented reality and other forms of technology.

These free 90-minute workshops, delivered by various University of Arizona faculty and staff, have been entirely virtual during the pandemic but still manage to serve the largest group of students yet, with more than 425 students attending the workshops live.

The Eller Technology Innovation team also created the Tech Core Summer Internship in 2020 to replace internships that were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Due to its success, the Tech Core Summer internship will continue during summer 2021 with the goal to help students build skills and gain internship experience working on 20 university-sponsored projects.

The 10-week virtual internship begins on June 7 and will have four areas of concentration: content creation, marketing and sales, data science and visualization and emerging technology coding.

Students will spend the first three weeks of the internship training in each area of concentration before being put into teams and assigned a specific project.

One hundred University of Arizona students have accepted the internship, 70 of which are pre-business or business majors within the Eller College.

“The purpose of the Level-Up Workshops and Tech Core Internship are to really prepare our students for the future of business,” says Gray Hunter, lecturer in economics and member of the Eller Technology Innovation Team. “Especially in a time when the future of work is largely dependent on tech.”
