Mejias-Brean was one of 12 Eller College students selected for 2025-26.

Growing up in Vail, Arizona, he was fascinated by technology at an early age. He loved learning about how iPhones work and the differences between iOS and Android. Mejias-Brean also played sports and participated in marching band.

When COVID hit, he had lots of time on his hands and started picking up new skills, including 3D modeling, photography and videography. While in high school, he took a photography class and began shadowing his teacher, a photographer in Tucson.

“He saw a lot of potential in me,” says Mejias-Brean.

Before long, Mejias-Brean was working alongside him, making videos at weddings. Another photographer took Mejias-Brean aside and taught him the ropes of invoicing, contracting and setting prices.

Today, Mejias-Brean has his own business: LMB Videography. Last year alone, he worked at 17 weddings. This summer, he traveled to Italy to film a destination wedding.

Running LMB Videography has not only taught Mejias-Brean the art of storytelling but also exposed him to the business systems behind it, including data management, client relations and workflow optimization, all of which strengthen his pursuit of MIS and OSCM.

In addition to his videography work, Mejias-Brean stays busy with school.

It made sense for him to study in Tucson. After all, both of his brothers attended the U of A. One of them played for the Wildcats in the 2012 College World Series championship, and the other earned his Master’s in MIS at Eller.

Coupled with his existing interest in technology, learning about MIS from his brother sealed the deal for Mejias-Brean.

“The MIS program called out to me,” he says, noting that he plans to double major in MIS and OSCM.

During his time at Eller, Mejias-Brean has enjoyed the business statistics class. He’s also fascinated by geopolitics, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. These interests could converge as he considers career options.

“I was really interested in cybersecurity, especially with national defense. I want to work in the defense industry,” he says, pointing to companies like Raytheon, Anduril or a startup in the field.

The future holds plenty of exciting opportunities for Mejias-Brean, from videography to a career in the defense industry.
