Internship Spotlight: Zane Hasan, Deloitte
Zane Hasan '25 BSBA (Management Information Systems & Finance) was a Global Finance Intern at Deloitte Global in Tempe, Arizona.
What was the process for getting this internship, job, or summer experience?
I talked to my career coach about finding an internship and she connected me to a
partner within Deloitte so I could hear about what he does and learn more about the firm.
After a great conversation, he recommended that I apply for the Global Finance
Internship. A few weeks later, I was invited for a phone screening interview and then
invited to 2 formal interviews with managers on the team. The interview process took
about 2 months and I received my offer in January.
What was a typical day like?
A typical day consisted of logging on to my computer at 8 AM and checking my teams
messages and emails. From there, I would contact my manager to see what daily tasks I
would need to complete and get to work. I worked most closely with the Global
accounting team and a lot of my tasks had to do with the firms yearly audit and gathering
necessary information to complete it. I also had multiple meetings everyday as I was
working remotely and this was the most efficient form of communication. After that, I
would work on some more long term projects as needed. The internship was also
designed to allow for a lot of coffee chats and exploration of other departments so a
good chunk of my days were dedicated to speaking with other professionals as
scheduling coffee chats.
If you worked on a big project, please describe it:
During my internship, I got the opportunity to work on a project with my fellow interns
identifying specific AI solutions that the Global Finance team could implement into their
team. This was my favorite part of the internship because I got to do a lot of research on
how AI can be implemented for accounting purposes and gain more knowledge about
the topic as a whole. It was also a very insightful experience as I got to present my
findings to a panel of managing directors which is something I have never done.
What was your favorite part of the experience?
My favorite part of the internship was getting to travel. During my time at Deloitte, I got to
attend the intern conference at Deloitte University in Dallas, Texas and visit the New Yok
office to shadow my managing director. These were both amazing experiences as I got
to hangout with my co-workers as well as meet my managers in person and get the
opportunity to explore new places.
