UA Eller College and College of Medicine - Phoenix Begin Future in Healthcare Panel Discussions on May 31
PHOENIX, Ariz. – May 17, 2018 – The University of Arizona Eller College of Management and the College of Medicine – Phoenix are kicking off the Future in Healthcare series of expert panel discussions from 8-10 a.m. on Thursday, May 31 at the Virginia G. Piper Auditorium (UA College of Medicine - Phoenix campus, Building 2), 600 E. Van Buren St. in downtown Phoenix. Admission is free and breakfast is included. Register now.
The first topic, Healthcare Influencers and Game Changers, will be discussed by keynote speaker Tom Betlach, director of the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System, Arizona’s single state Medicaid agency, along with renowned Eller faculty Brian Hilligoss, PhD, and Mike Bond, PhD, as well as Heidi Jannenga, PT, DPT, ATC/L, healthcare industry innovator, and Guy Reed, MD, MS, dean of the College of Medicine - Phoenix.
Eller Dean Paulo Goes says the complexity of issues that lie at the intersection of business and medicine are steadily intensifying across practice environments.
“It’s a big reason why we recently launched our Master of Healthcare Management program,” Goes says. “We also recognize the need to have frank discussions now about how the healthcare industry operates today and how it should operate in the future.”
College of Medicine - Phoenix Dean Guy Reed says improving patient outcomes while simultaneously improving efficiency and controlling costs has long been a priority in the healthcare industry.
“Whether physicians and other providers work in a large healthcare system or in private practice, they need fundamental knowledge in three key business disciplines, leadership, strategy and data analytics, to continuously improve the value of healthcare for patients,” he says.
The panel is hosted by Eller College’s Center for Management Innovations in Healthcareand the new healthcare management graduate degree, both under the direction of Stephen Gilliland, PhD, the Salter Chair in Healthcare Management.
