“Having the opportunity to combine both my love for the business world and the entertainment industry has been the highlight of my time at the University of Arizona,” says Aiza Coulter BSBA ’22 (Marketing).
Coulter grew up in Tucson, and as a child, she would write and record short films with her friends. This habit gradually evolved into a passion for the entertainment industry.

“Alongside that passion,” she says, “I knew I had a love for the business world and wanted to follow in my father’s footsteps, who graduated with a marketing degree.”
After being admitted into Eller, Coulter wasted no time in finding ways to become involved. She is currently the front desk assistant for Eller’s undergraduate program, helps coordinate the annual Eller Make a Difference Day, is a secretary for the Eller African American Honorary and the head of communications of the Business Entertainment club.
On top of staying involved in the Eller community, Coulter participated in the Foundation for International Education (FIE) Program during summer 2020, where she interned remotely with an independent film company, White Rabbit Films in London, United Kingdom.
In this role, she worked as an assistant impact producer to strategize an audience engagement plan. Part of the plan included a university campus ambassador program that serves to help spread the launch of the film among college students in the United States.
Putting all of this on her plate while maintaining a focus on both her marketing and film education didn’t come without challenges, though.
“There was a certain point where time management became a serious issue for me—I was struggling to figure out what my priorities were and what I wanted to do after graduation, as well as trying to overcome some mental health challenges,” explains Coulter. “Luckily, I had the support of Eller’s staff and faculty.
“They helped remind me that even when times aren’t looking up and I feel overwhelmed,” she says, “the best thing I can do for myself is to use that time to grow and remember to be grateful for the people and experiences in my life.”
After graduation, Coulter hopes to combine the use of design and aesthetics with marketing to work with a creative agency or something of that nature to market films, TV shows and other entertainment channels.
