Internship Spotlight: Keegan Alford, EY

Keegan Alford '24 BSBA (Accounting & Management Information Systems ) was an Assurance Intern at EY in San Diego, California.

What was your favorite part of the experience?

My favorite part was being able to travel to Orlando, FL.  During this time, EY gave us time to network and connect with interns from all over the world.  It was great to be exposed to the opportunities that are available to you as a member of EY.

If you worked on a big project, please describe it below:

During my internship, I was on a client that was undergoing a large acquisition.  It was an amazing learning experience to see the processes involved in combining two large, publicly traded companies.

Did you feel supported by the company or organization you worked with?

EY did a great job of providing financial and social support throughout the internship.  In response to COVID-19, they created a fund that eased the burden of coming back into the office by taking care of common expenses such as parking and mileage.  Also, they provided each intern with a network of professionals that stay with them from the beginning of the internship until after they begin as a full-time employee after graduation.

I was selected to participate in the Digital Ambassador Program.  In this program, EY gave participants the opportunity to leverage data analytics and real-time client data to create solutions for Audit teams.  At the conclusion of the program, the participants were able to present their findings to the Engagement Partner.
