Eller College Annual Innovation Expo Showcases Student Entrepreneurs
The Eller College of Management McGuire Center for Entrepreneurship hosted the eighth annual Innovation Expo on February 15, 2024. This event, which takes on the University of Arizona Mall, provides a platform for students who are part of the New Venture Development Program, to showcase their entrepreneurial ventures and innovations.
The UA Mall buzzed with excitement as students and visitors came together to witness the creativity and entrepreneurial spirit of the NVD students.
The expo featured student booths housed in breakout rooms that served as a stage for cross-disciplinary student startup teams from the NVD Program to display their projects and ideas.
Among the innovations showcased were:
Hestia Collective: partners with companies to offer community-based affordable housing solutions to young professionals moving to new cities.
Bullseye Energy: fast-acting caffeinated gum designed to give people the boost of energy they need to hit their mark.
Ponderosa: 100 percent recycled luggage aiming to decrease plastic and textile waste while fulfilling all your travel needs.
Revosense: CGM health sensor for diabetics and athletes.
FutureFit: fitness, nutrition and mental wellness focused programs. Specifically in class, after school and summer camps for kids K-5.
DriveOn Automotive: a mobile app to help consumers maintain their vehicle as well as provide resources for easy resell.
Parrot: a platform to easily build IOS and web apps.
PEPCORP: sustainable and eco-friendly product supplier.
SwapShop: buy and sell unwanted college necessities at an affordable price to reduce waste and increase affordability on college campuses.
DoReMi: a mobile app that connects music teachers and students and provides gamified lessons.
MA'Y: recucled, reusable water bottles.
Angel Engine: monthly investment analysis service for private angel investors who struggle to conduct effective individual research.
Wealth Wars: a mobile application that allows for friendly competition through gamified budgetting.
Throughout the day, attendees had the opportunity to engage with the exhibitors, learn about their ventures, and explore potential collaborations.
Following the expo, participants gathered at McClelland Hall where an awards ceremony was held. The team winning this year's innovation expo was Revosense, followed by Swapshop in second place and Bullseye Energy in third.
The McGuire Innovation Expo not only highlights the achievements of student entrepreneurs but also underscores the University's commitment to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship. By providing a platform for students to turn their ideas into reality, the McGuire Center continues to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of entrepreneurship.
