Jacque Quesada '25 BSBA (Finance) was a Summer Associate at Boston Consulting Group in Seattle, Washington.

Did you have any other challenges you were surprised by this summer (or as you prepared for the summer?):
This was my second summer, so I felt well-prepared!

What did you find most challenging?
My case (which is essentially a project) was very quantitatively heavy, which really intimidated me because I felt it was one of my areas for significant improvement. But I was paired with a great mentor, whom I deemed a “data guru,” and I learned Alteryx and Excel at a faster rate than I could have ever imagined. The key was not being afraid to ask any question and using ChatGPT to help with the coding and formulas I needed to produce my models.

What advice do you have for future students with a similar interest?
Get involved in Eller as soon as possible! My success would not have been possible without the wide range of experiences that Eller and the staff, professors, and fellow students provided me with!

How did Eller prepare you for this experience?
Eller prepared me by connecting me with students who had succeeded in this career path and were able to mentor me as I went through the recruitment and internship process over the past two years!

Anything else you’d like to share about the experience?
I never thought that I would have a chance at BCG and almost did not apply. However, I realized that the worst they could tell me was “no,” and then I would just move on and try again! If I had let the fear of rejection hold me back, I would never have gotten my dream job. So my advice is: being told “no” is the worst thing that can happen, and even then, you keep going and learn from the experience!

One final thing, a heartfelt thank you to my family who are the reason I was able to achieve this dream! I love you all.
