Areas of Focus
New Venture Development
This is where game-changers are made. Any UA undergraduate or graduate student can participate in this yearlong, team-based program to learn the principles of entrepreneurship and innovation and build a new venture from the ground up.
Social Innovation
Our social innovation programs work with local innovators and nonprofits to design strategies to address complex social problems and provide Eller undergraduate students with the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skill sets in real-world environments.
Small Business and Economic Development
The McGuire Economic Development Program is focused on job creation by delivering entrepreneurship and business training to business owners in Southern Arizona. In addition, the Economic Development program has a course at Eller College of Management where students work on business consulting projects with local business owners to improve their managerial skills and grow their businesses–revenues, profits and number of employees.
Global and Cross-Border Entrepreneurship
Over the past decade, University of Arizona’s hometown city, Tucson, has cultivated a community of entrepreneurs and innovators. Entrepreneur Magazine recently named the Old Pueblo an emerging entrepreneurial hub and Brookings featured Tucson as an innovative district. Keenly aware of Tucson’s growing entrepreneurial ecosystem, the McGuire Center has taken an active role to expand its reach to Mexico and abroad.
