Between Spring 2020 and Spring 2021, the Eller College of Management at the University of Arizona has admitted its strongest undergraduate academic classes in years.

The spring 2020 semester had more than 450 admits with an average cumulative GPA of 3.672. The average GPA for pre-business classes was 3.571. At that point, both GPA’S were record highs.

During the fall 2020 semester, the admissions process for the Eller College held its admissions interview virtually instead of in person. This process positively impacted enrollment interest. There was a total of 202 interviewers who participated in the admissions process including three that took place virtually from Europe. The number of participating Eller alumni as interviewers was also the largest it had ever been at 167.

And the admitted class for the spring 2021 semester continues to break records. With 77.1 percent of applicants admitted, there were more than 475 students accepted into the Eller College with an average cumulative GPA of 3.73. The GPA for pre-business classes was 3.635 on average.

The strength of the Eller College’s undergraduate program reaches beyond academics too. In March 2021, the Eller College was ranked #6 on Poets & Quants Top Business Schools with the Most Minority Students List. Eller’s most recent census data shows 44.1 percent of the current students identify as persons of color.

“This external recognition underscores Eller’s commitment to promoting diversity, equity and inclusion throughout the college, including through faculty research on the importance of diversity on campus or in the workplace, establishing scholarships to support students from unrepresented backgrounds and forming numerous student clubs and organizations focused on DEI activities,” says Paulo Goes, dean and Halle Chair in Leadership.

The University of Arizona is also among 539 Hispanic Serving Institutes across the U.S.
