Media Alert: UA experts predict economy for the rest of 2013
UA Eller College of Management presents mid-year assessment of the region’s economy on June 5 at the Westin La Paloma
TUCSON, Ariz. – May 30, 2013 – Arizona’s economy accelerated in 2012 with improvement in the growth of jobs, population, and recovery in housing markets and homebuilding. Unemployment also receded. However, the pace of improvement remains subdued by historical standards and economic activity remains well below 2007 peak levels.
What’s holding back the recovery — and what are the risks going forward? Why might the economy surprise to the upside?
Locally, progress has been disappointing. Why is southern Arizona seemingly lagging so far behind? How do we measure up? Are we gaining ground — or falling further behind? What role does southern Arizona play in the “Sun Corridor?”
Join us for breakfast with Eller economists George W. Hammond and Marshall J. Vest as they answer these questions and offer insights on what to expect for Arizona and our local economies for the remainder of 2013.
The annual Breakfast with the Economists forecasting event is sponsored by JP Morgan Chase and Co.
