Recruiters On-site for Biggest Eller Career Showcase to Date

During the Showcase, students had the opportunity to build networking experience and get on employers’ radar for internships and full-time positions. “The Career Showcase is a great way to gain experience and network even if you’re not entirely sure about the industry you want to end up in,” said Taylor Thomison (Eller Marketing ’15). “Being exposed to professionals from various industries opens your eyes to options you may not have thought about in the past, and broadens your perspective.”  

The Eller Professional Development Center offers a multitude of resources for students as they prepare for the Showcase, including tips on how to improve resumes and cover letters and how to research your company of choice. “I began going to the Career Showcase my first year, and since then have continued to build relationships with different recruiters,” said Melissa Rose (Eller Finance ’15). “I am most excited this year to see the recent Eller Alumni coming back to their alma mater to recruit!”

Career Showcase serves not just Eller students, but also students in similar majors. “Eller and the Career Showcase has been a vital resource in finding the career path that best exemplifies the skills I have developed throughout my collegiate career,” said Nayan Doshi (Retail and Consumer Sciences ’15).

The Showcase is also a fundraiser for its sponsoring organizations. Delta Sigma Pi and the Eller College Student Council will each make about $20,000 from coordinating the event, some of which will go back into building improvements for Eller.

“Included in the improvements are more group study spaces,” said Jessica Schulte (Eller Finance and Operations Management ’16). “Both Delta Sigma Pi and Eller Student Council hope that this year’s Showcase will live up to the expectations placed on it by both organizations and will bring long lasting improvements to the College.”
