Internship Spotlight – Ruwayd Dodin, JP Morgan Chase & Co.
Ruwayd Dodin is a MIS major and is going to graduate in 2019. He interned with JP Morgan over the summer as a Corporate and Investment Banks Risk Summer Analyst in New York City, New York.
How did you get this internship? I initially heard about this opportunity through a diversity and inclusion event that JPMorgan Chase & Co. was hosting. This event revolved around networking, learning about the firm, and participating in a Superday. I applied to the program, and I reached out to several program organizers for networking purposes. After my admission into the program, I began to prepare for the coming Superday by seeking help through the PDC, reading about potential interview questions online, and reading a book about Wall Street interviews.
What was your favorite part of the experience? There are two characteristics about this internship experience that are particularly distinguishable. First, J.P. Morgan’s company culture is developmentally driven. The firm encourages consistent growth both personally and professionally. The internship program is designed to promote this culture through routine executive and analyst events. Second, the interns that I worked with were amazing! They came from many backgrounds globally. All of the interns were as excited as I was to achieve a great experience within J.P. Morgan and explore New York City.
What advice do you have for other students looking for a similar internship? If you’re looking for an internship in finance, I suggest that you develop a firm habit of staying informed with the news, especially about finance and its relevance to your potential role. Next, I recommend that you cultivate the skills needed to succeed at your potential job. To prepare for my internship with J.P. Morgan’s Credit Risk group, I read a credit scoring practices book and a quantitative finance book. Finally, be ready to network. Do not simply establish connections, but try to cultivate relationships.

From stressing the importance of business communication to obtaining interview help at the professional development center, everybody at Eller works hard to ensure that students are well-equipped for the their desired paths.
Did your internship employer provide housing or transportation assistance? My employer provided resources for me to find housing and assistance.
