Internship Spotlight: Madison Reznicki, Arizona Alpha Phi

Madison Reznicki '25 BSBA (Marketing and Dance) was the Vice President of Marketing at Arizona Alpha Phi in Tucson, AZ.

What was the process of getting this internship, job, or summer experience?  

In November 2022, I interviewed for a position on Alpha Phi’s Executive Board. The chapter elected me into the role of Vice President of Marketing, which is a position I hold for a year. 

What was a typical day like?

Within this position, I manage social media platforms with over 40,000 followers, design trendy merchandise, and delegate tasks to a 12-person cabinet. Over the summer, I communicated with my social media team to plan summer content (we post every other day on our account), run ads on various platforms, and come up with a social media strategy for recruitment season in August/September. I also worked with my merchandise team to start planning fall semester apparel drops. We meet to brainstorm ideas, contact merchandise companies, and negotiate pricing and delivery flexibility.

What was your favorite part of the experience?

My favorite part of this experience has been showing off how special each member of the chapter is. Through Instagram Story shoutouts about impressive jobs and internships, to filming viral dance TikToks, and letting my team’s creativity shine through their merchandise designs, I have loved being able to make each member’s experience more positive.

What did you find most challenging?

The most challenging factor for this position is trying to plan our content over the summer when members are not together. I strive to show off the value of sisterhood by posting group photos, but it is difficult to obtain these photos over the summer when members are in different places. To solve this issue, my social media team and I held “Content Days” where we invited members to fun locations, like Downtown Tucson, to shoot content that could be used in the future.

What did you learn?

I learned that being proactive is extremely important because the position oversees a lot of categories and members. By meeting with my team frequently, I was able to ensure that I could hear a variety of opinions and solidify deadlines for tasks. This way, we never missed a day of posting and we felt confident heading back into the school year.

What advice do you have for other students looking for a similar experience, or advice for future students to be successful?

In every organization you join, get involved. Extracurricular leadership opportunities can be more rewarding than you may think, as they are time-consuming and teach responsibility, open-mindedness, and teamwork. By accepting a position related to my major, Marketing, I was able to practice my skills in a space where I was supported by my peers. 

How did Eller Prepare you for this experience?

The courses and community in Eller prepared me for this experience because they taught me how important teamwork is. My summer experience would not have been the same without my cabinet who I could rely on for opinions and feedback. My courses at Eller strengthened my ability at communicating effectively with a team, which was very useful as my cabinet was communicating virtually over the summer.
