On April 11, student teams from the Eller College of Management came together to compete in the annual Meritage Real Estate Competition. Sponsored by Meritage Homes, the competition challenges students to research and analyze a timely issue in the real estate industry and present their findings to a panel of industry experts.

This year’s case prompt asked: “What could be the potential impact and outcome of the NAR settlement on the residential real estate sector in the short and long term?” Each of the five student teams had approximately 15 minutes to present their insights, followed by a round of questions from a judging panel that included Arizona real estate professionals and executives from Meritage Homes.

After a full afternoon of  analysis and engaging presentations, Team 5 took home first place winning $3,000. The winning team was comprised of Colby Gackle, Cole Hover, Sota Irla, Ben Sternschuss and Skyler Ulvedal.

Second place and a prize of $2,000 went to Team 4, featuring Mariella Chavez, Bianca DeVitis, Janet Warren and Nicole Wathen.

In third place, winning $1,000 was Team 3, which included Tim Brandenberger, Ani Georgian, Luke Jackson, and Filip Sarnowicz.

The annual Meritage Real Estate Competition offers Eller students a unique opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to real-world challenges while gaining valuable feedback from experienced professionals in the field.
