Advanced Zipperman Associates

The Advanced Zipperman Associates Program builds on the Zipperman Scholars Program by offering an advanced two-year track focused on professional preparation for careers in tech consulting. The program has space for up to 40 Zipperman Scholars with double majors in MIS and Accounting or Finance during their junior and senior years at Eller. 

This program is supported by a generous gift from Eller alumnus Walt Zipperman, CEO of DAZ Systems.

Qualifications

Each spring, 20 Zipperman Scholars are selected to participate in the program during their junior and senior years at Eller. The AZA application opens every March, and program participants are announced in April. Application instructions and the link to the form are sent to all active Zipperman Scholars. 

Viable candidates for the Advanced Zipperman Associates program must meet the following criteria:

  • Active participation in the Zipperman Scholars program as a pre-business major
  • Cumulative GPA 3.5
  • Professional admission to Eller with a double major in MIS/Accounting or MIS/Finance
  • Application
  • Interview

The Program

Freshman Year  

FALL

  • Take MIS 111—earn an A
  • Cumulative GPA 3.5 or higher for semester

SPRING

  • Acceptance to Zipperman Scholars (ZipS) program
  • Attend a minimum of 4 ZipS events, including What is MIS? (required)
  • Introduction to AZA program through meetings and emails
  • Write reflection paper

$100 stipend

Sophomore Year  

FALL

  • Attend minimum of 4 ZipS events
  • Presentations about dual majors in MIS and Accounting/Finance
  • Take BNAD 200: Career Management in Business (required) and participate in Sales Case Competition
  • Apply for BNAD 240: Careers in Consultancy
  • Write reflection paper

$100 stipend

SPRING

  • Optional enrollment in BNAD 240: Careers in Consultancy
  • Attend minimum of 4 ZipS events
  • Eller Professional Admissions
  • Meet the Firms
  • Write reflection paper
  • Apply to Advanced Zipperman Associates program (Qualifications: double major in MIS and Accounting/Finance, application, interview, GPA 3.5)

$100 stipend

SUMMER: 

  • AZA opportunity for guided technical skills development
  • Deliverable—presentation for ZipS/other audiences
  • $500 scholarship upon successful completion of above
Junior Year  

FALL  |  Skill development area: Interpersonal relationships

  • Professional Mentors Identified
  • Face to face meetings with mentors
  • Phoenix trip to consulting firms
  • Soft skills retreat
  • Participate in minimum of 4 AZA activities
  • Take BCOM 314: Business Communication (required); participate in Digital Presence Competition and Consulting Case Competition
  • Participate in Arizona Consultants Club (ACC) 

$500 stipend

SPRING  |  Skill development area: Tableau

  • Continue in mentorship program
  • Participate in minimum of 4 AZA activities
  • Take MIS 304: Using and Managing Information Systems (required) and participate in Case Competition
  • Take MIS 373: Basic Operations Management (required) and participate in Intramural Case Competition
  • Participate in ACC

$500 stipend

SUMMER: Internship  
Senior Year  

FALL  

  • Continue in mentorship program
  • Participate in minimum of 4 AZA activities
  • Take ENTR 485: Innovation: Creating the Future and participate in Case Competition
  • Take MIS 427: Intro to Enterprise Computing Environments (elective)
  • Participate in ACC
  • Employment decision
