Undergraduate Orientation Information - Transfer

Transfer Orientation Information

Welcome to the Eller College!

The Virtual Orientation Experience is a University of Arizona requirement to help newly admitted transfer students transition to life as a Wildcat! The process begins with Pre-Orientation tasks beginning in Next Steps Center.  Within Next Steps Center, students complete items to prepare to enroll for classes, select their Academic Connection Day, send in transcripts and complete Academic Placements

When Pre-Orientation tasks are complete, the Virtual Orientation Experience continues with Arizona Arrival and Academic Connection Day. Arizona Arrival is a self-paced, informational portal where new students are introduced to their College, learn about campus support services, student organizations, and gain valuable insights about campus and life as a Wildcat. Arizona Arrival must be completed and placements addressed before participating in Academic Connection Day. On this day, Eller students attend an online virtual meeting with the Eller College and complete 1-1 academic advising with a Professional Academic Advisor. After reviewing transfer coursework and placements, the advisor will set up an academic plan for the first semester and release the students Mandatory Advising Hold in UAccess-Student Center.

After Academic Connection Day is complete, we encourage new Eller Transfer students to connect with their assigned Eller Academic Advisor for additional assistance in transitioning to the University, exploring resources and opportunities, and development long term academic planning to make the most of the Eller Experience to come.

Academic Advising

Professional Academic Advisors act as a resource for students to better understand University policy and procedures and connect to support. Advising is necessary to plan future courses and track progress toward degree completion.

BSBA-Applying for "Professional Admissions"

All students who enter as Foundational Business Management majors must go through a competitive and selective Professional Admission process to gain entry to the upper-division professional business majors and coursework.

BA Economics-Progressing to Upper-division

All BA Economic degree students must take lower-division economic courses before upper-division economics courses and are required to complete a Minor to finalize the degree.

Academic Semester Plans

Sample plans for Business and Economics students to see how progress to graduation can look.  Sample plans should be customized with an Academic Advisor to meet unique needs.

“Be wEller” Student Wellness

Our goal is to provide all students in the Eller College with the resources and support to be healthy and perform at the highest level personally, academically and professionally.

We recognize that selecting a major is an important part to a student's academic journey.

Changing your major into the Eller College of Management:

Incoming non-Eller transfer students can change their major to Foundational Business Management or Foundational Economics after completing their Orientation program. The University is not able to accommodate change of majors on the day of orientations.  After their orientation, new transfer students who wish to change to Foundational Business Management or Foundation Economics can do so through the Eller College Change of Major Information Session.

Changing your major out of the Eller College of Management:

Eller First Year students who completed their Orientation Program and were admitted to Foundational Business Management or Foundational Economics who want to change to another major at the University of Arizona should contact the advisor of their desired major and follow the instructions listed by that department.  Students who are still exploring UA majors are encouraged to contact The A Center, which serves as the home for exploratory students at the University of Arizona.
