Aiden Hamm '27 (Finance) was a Data Analyst Intern at AgWest Farm Credit in Tempe, AZ

AgWest Farm Credit provided a signing bonus along with a stipend in every paycheck to help cover any living expenses incurred during the summer.

What was the process for getting this internship, job, or summer experience?

I met AgWest at the 2025 Eller Expo. We had a great conversation at their table, and they scheduled me for an interview at Eller the next day. That interview went very well, and I was soon informed that I had advanced to the next round. The next round was an interview with the state president. After a few weeks of anxious waiting, I received a call from HR offering me the internship position.

Tell us about your internship.

My favorite part of the experience was my visit to company HQ. During this visit, I learned a great deal from the Leadership Panel and our Market Research Insight meetings. On the final day of the trip, we volunteered at Vets on the Farm. It was a rewarding experience working on projects around the farm so they could keep providing a service to veterans in the area. I also worked on a major project. During my internship, I conducted an industry deep dive into the Arizona dairy market and presented my findings to help guide lending strategy and policy in the state. Making a presentation from scratch about an industry I had no prior knowledge of was difficult, but it was a great challenge to overcome.

How did Eller prepare you for this internship and any advice for other students?

My advice to students interested in landing an internship after junior year is to put your nose to the grindstone. Talk to every recruiter you meet, as you never know what opportunities might arise from those connections. I would also encourage students to pay attention in the classroom. The material we cover in class gets used in the real world way more than I anticipated. One class in particular that was a game changer for me was BCOM. After my presentation, my boss told me he was extremely impressed with my public speaking and presentation skills. I was glad to receive this compliment, but I owe it to my BCOM professor for getting me to that skill level.
