Eller Make a Difference Day 2024: Creating Lasting Community Impact
The Eller College of Management's tradition of community service continues to make a meaningful impact across the Tucson community. Eller Make a Difference Day had more than 750 students participate in this moving event, which took place on November 1-2, 2024, demonstrating the growing spirit of service among the university community.
Eller Make a Difference Day, a cherished tradition that brings together the Eller and wider University of Arizona community, focuses on promoting kindness, positivity, and meaningful change. This year's event was made possible through a continued partnership with United Way of Tucson—a nonprofit organization dedicated to addressing community needs and creating sustainable systemic change by tackling fundamental social issues.
The event kicked off early Friday morning, November 1, at McClelland Hall, where hundreds of enthusiastic student volunteers gathered for check-in. After receiving their assignments, students dispersed throughout Tucson in organized groups, ready to make their mark on the community through various service projects.
The partnership with United Way of Tucson proved particularly significant, as the organization's deep understanding of local needs helped direct volunteer efforts where they would have the most impact.
Following Saturday’s volunteer activities, United Way hosted a celebratory after-party, bringing together all participants to recognize their contributions and celebrate the collective impact made on the Tucson community. The gathering was a conclusion to a weekend of service, allowing volunteers to share their experiences and reflect on their contributions to the community.
The record-breaking participation demonstrates the growing success of Eller Make a Difference Day and highlights students' continuous strive for community service and social responsibility.
