Martin Dufwenberg
Professor Emeritus of Economics
Martin Dufwenberg was an Eller Professor of Economics at the University of Arizona 2003-2025, serving as Head (2020-23) and as Director for the Economic Science Lab (2008-13) and the Institute for Behavioral Economics (2006-25). He is currently a Distinguished Professor of Economics at Purdue University. He received his PhD at Uppsala University in 1995 and an Honorary Doctorate at the University of Gothenburg in 2023. His research uses game theory and experiments to incorporate insights from psychology into economic analysis. Much of his work develops and applies a formal framework called psychological game theory, which is useful for modeling, e.g., a host of emotions, reciprocity, social norms, or image concerns.
