The rapid evolution of artificial intelligence (AI) has brought transformations and advancements for business intelligence (BI). Business Intelligence (BI) refers to the process of transforming data into actionable insights to support strategic, tactical, and operational decisions. The recent advances in AI have enabled businesses to optimize these processes and gain competitive advantages. Today, with the continuous growth of AI techniques, the value of BI is expected to have a market of 18.5 billion by 2026.
This graduate-level course provides a hands-on introduction to fundamental artificial intelligence (AI) methods and modern business intelligence (BI) concepts. Students will learn the AI4BI development process and explore how AI can be applied to transform raw data into actionable insights that support strategic decision-making across multiple aspects, including customers, suppliers, and internal operations. The course covers key machine learning and deep learning techniques for business intelligence, along with common data sources, tasks, and analytics used in real-world business scenarios. Emphasis is placed on the practical application and development of state-of-the-art big data, visualization, and AI technologies to enhance BI systems. Through a course project using publicly available data (e.g., news and social media), students will gain hands-on experience in building an end-to-end, AI-driven BI production system that delivers useful, actionable, and comprehensive insights.
