Before joining the program, students should have knowledge of Python, SQL, and statistics. We recommend students without this experience gain practice through formal coursework or via Coursera, Udemy, or edX.

Knowledge of Python and SQL is required. Applicants should have a genuine interest in developing programming and technical skills, as these will be used extensively throughout the curriculum. If you need to build foundational knowledge before starting, preparation can be completed through university coursework or flexible online resources such as Coursera, Udemy, or edX.

We only admit new students in the Fall semester. There are core classes offered in Fall that are prerequisites for the Spring classes.

Until we have received your complete application, we are not able to predict your chances of being admitted into the program. The selection committee will consider all parts of every application submitted, including the essays and letters of recommendation. We want the best students in our Master's program, but we do not have a maximum or minimum number of students that we accept each year.

Due to enrollment limits, the Eller College does not find it possible to admit all applicants who meet the minimum entrance requirements.

Check out the Scholarships and Financial aid website for all financial aid information: https://financialaid.arizona.edu/.

The MIS Department offers Graduate Teaching and Research Assistantships each semester. Students can apply once they are admitted to the program. Students must maintain a 3.0 GPA in order to keep their assistantship.

The AI for Business program is still new (first cohort offered in Fall 2026) so there are no approved dual degree programs yet. Once dual degree programs are approved by the University of Arizona, we will post information on the website for how to apply.
