Financial Aid
As each individual is different we encourage you to visit the Office of Financial Aid page to explore the types of aid available.
Eligibility for need-based grants, loans, and scholarships is determined by completing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form. Many funds are limited, so those students who have their FAFSA completed by March 1 of each academic year receive priority processing.
Applicants must have been admitted to the program before The University of Arizona Office of Student Financial Aid (OSFA) will make financial aid awards. Graduate students must be enrolled at least halftime in order to receive federal loans.
Admitted students may apply for scholarships in Scholarship Universe, our scholarship-matching tool. Scholarship Universe connects Wildcats to millions of dollars in internal and external scholarships.
Merit Scholarships, Research and Teaching Assistantships
Competitive, merit-based scholarships and select graduate assistantship opportunities are available and awarded on a rolling basis. No separate application is required. All admitted students are automatically considered through a holistic review that includes academic performance, professional experience, and the strength of application materials such as the personal statement and résumé.
Our research and teaching assistantships include a stipend, an out-of-state tuition waiver, and student health insurance. If you are interested in pursuing an assistantship, you should first be admitted to the program. Once admitted, we encourage you to learn which faculty members have active research grants that may support master’s students with specific skills, such as programming. Additional opportunities for employment are also offered through various campus units, including the University Libraries and the THINK TANK.
Because funding is limited and awarded as applications are reviewed, earlier applicants are in the strongest position for consideration.
